living in the present tense

our story

Born out of the love and respect of material and process

About us

Present Tense Home is an ode to textile anthropology and history. Textiles affect all of us deeply. Present Tense Home has a mission of preserving weaving heritage by partnering with historic mills and artisans globally, telling their stories to keep them alive.

Founded by Georgia Hausmann, the goal is to highlight the importance of these processes and communities, innovate what is possibile in the future, but ultimately create a product that encourages the user to gather and live in the present moment. Your support and belief in this brand mean more than you know, and we look forward to continuing to build such a meaningful community.

I love learning about the heritage that comes with all textile practices. That is what this brand is: a compilation of textile history and what it means to be a human living right now. Rather than confinement, it is freedom. It is the realization that all things are woven together.

The idea of presence through textiles is a combination of both the sourcing process and the end use. It is the way the fiber is harvested, processed, spun into yarn, woven into cloth, and finished into a final good. It is then the way the user interacts with it. I keep coming back to the idea that well-made textiles are something we should cherish, use abundantly, and gather around.

Fiber holds energy. Let the fibers you bring into your home hold patience and intention. Infuse your belongings with meaning. The idea is to pause in the morning before you enter the world or to wind down in the evening afterwards. Your throw is an accessory to your ritual. It is what you gather around with your loved ones or what you reach for when needing personal comfort. It is a piece to remind you to be present. That is what I wanted to make.

Founder Georgia Hausmann studied fiber science, textile technology, and product development. She has a professional background in weaving, apparel and home upholstery production, and small scale regenerative agriculture. She is also a yoga teacher and practitioner. All of these things led to Present Tense home.
